Call for Papers: American Academy of Religion 2010

Call for papers for the Pentecostal-Charismatic movements consultation at the American Academy of Religion in Atlanta 2010.

The Pentecostal/Charismatic Movement's Consultation (PCMC) at the American Academy of Religions (AAR) invites proposals for individual papers or fully developed panels on the following themes:

  1. Martin Luther King Jr., civil rights, and Pentecostalism;
  2. Paradigm shifts in the Black Church - from storefront to mainline to megachurch;
  3. Pentecostalism and the World Missionary Conference one hundred years later; and
  4. Blues, praise, and music in the Pentecostal-Charismatic tradition.

We also welcome proposals for a possible joint session with the Ecclesiological Investigations Group focused on Pentecostal or Charismatic conceptions of ecclesial communion, union, and unity. Papers/panels should feature new methods and theoretical approaches to the scholarly examination of Pentecostal and Charismatic movements, past and present. The Consultation welcomes both descriptive (historical, social scientific) and constructive (theological) approaches.

To submit proposals, go here: http://www.aarweb.org/Meetings/Annual_Meeting/Current_Meeting/Call_for_Papers/default.asp. The deadline for proposals is 1 March 2010.

The PCMC steering committee is looking forward to your proposals!
